Lit up the area with torches and after a few minutes they started spawning and they respawn just about every time I go back down there now.
Might have been just luck finding it in the first area I cleared though. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

Also randomly placed in every world are slime chunks were slimes can only spawn in there below level 30 User Info: AvidDust I have actually made a trick to find slimed, what I do is find a swamp biome, run around a bit and believe it or not you will find them!!!

I usually clear out the area suggested by the green shading 4 blocks high plus i go a little in both directions. Where the chunks meet is the key to slime farming.
